Behind the scenes of the first screening of my bachelor thesis video essay “FAST FILM” as presented at Weltkunstzimmer Düsseldorf in February 2020. The essay explores the evolution of film as a consumer good in the context of technical development, focusing on the interplay of what the consumer wants to see in different time periods and the way this affects the production of films from a commercial point of view.
I combined documentary-style filmmaking with narrative elements, scenes that emulate the different styles and techniques of the different time periods as authentic as possible, re-shooting the same script in completely different contexts each time.
The screening took place in what used to be a cold storage room which I transformed into a little cinema.
FAST FILM will be available as a 3-part video series in YouTube very soon.
